Waiheke Island Yoga
Susan Grbic
Our yoga instructor, Susan Grbic, has over 20 years of experience teaching yoga. She believes our practice needs to make us happy. Our practice needs to make us more relaxed, and accepting. While embodying asana (postures) and breathing gently our practice is to be still, to be mindful, to be connected with what is in the moment, to be non-judgmental, to be patient, to be happy. Practising these and other essential skills is, for me, what ‘doing yoga’ is really all about.
Susan began teaching yoga in 1996 – her early training being in Integral and then Iyengar yoga. In 2001 she met Donna Farhi who became a strong influence in both how she practices teaches.
In June 2000 she opened the Albany Yoga Room on Auckland’s North Shore and exactly 12 years later, in June 2012, she passed it into other hands in order to go and live on Waiheke Island.
